Industrial Interior Painting FAQs
Introduction
Facility managers, operations leads, and property management teams often have questions when planning an interior industrial painting project. At Allied Painting Contractors, we believe clear answers are just as important as high-performance coatings. That’s why we created this FAQ resource — to help you make informed decisions and know what to expect when working with us.

Planning and Preparation
What types of facilities do you work in?
We specialize in factories, warehouses, logistics facilities, and other industrial spaces throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. Every project is scoped to match the environment and operational requirements.
How do you plan projects to minimize downtime?
We schedule around your operations — including nights, weekends, and shutdown periods — so your production or tenant activity is not disrupted.
Do I need to prep the space in advance?
Not much. We handle containment, masking, and safety setup. During the walk through, our team will explain any small prep steps your staff may need to take.

When is the best time to schedule interior painting?
The best time to schedule industrial interior work is during the winter months, when exterior projects slow down. Allied offers discounted rates of up to 15% for interior painting completed in this period.
Safety, Compliance, and Standards
Are your crews OSHA-compliant?
Yes. All Allied crews are OSHA-compliant and trained to meet workplace safety requirements on every project.
Can you meet FDA or USDA requirements for food-grade facilities?
Yes. Allied applies coatings and follows processes that meet FDA and USDA regulations where required.

Do you use low-VOC or food-safe coatings?
Yes. Allied meets all OSHA, FDA, and USDA requirements. We use low-VOC, fast-dry, and food-safe coatings whenever regulations or project requirements require them.
How do you ensure jobsite safety inside active facilities?
We use clear signage, physical barriers, and jobsite communication protocols. Crews are trained to work around active operations without creating risk or disruption
Process and Execution
What surfaces can be painted inside a facility?
We paint warehouse floors, walls, ceilings, structural steel, columns, beams, stairwells, restrooms, equipment enclosures, control rooms, machinery, and more. Safety striping and visual communication markings are also included — and we are experts at 5S implementation.
What is 5S painting?
5S painting supports workplace organization, efficiency, and safety by using visual markings and coatings to help facilities stay clean, structured, and compliant. Allied provides full 5S painting services to reinforce Lean practices and reduce downtime. Learn more here: 5S Painting Services.

How long does an industrial interior project usually take?
Timelines vary by facility size, scope, and access requirements. You’ll receive a clear, written schedule during the proposal stage — and we stick to it.
What happens after the project is complete?
We provide a thorough final walk through, handle any punch list items, and deliver coating specs and documentation for your records. Allied stands behind its work long after cleanup.
