Working in Chicago
Chicago still makes things: food and ingredient plants on the Southwest Side, metal finishing along the North Branch, printing and packaging in Pilsen and Pullman, and hundred-year-old brick plants that have been re-purposed three times. Every one of them has steel, block and deck that has to be maintained without stopping the line.
Our industrial crews plan around your production calendar: a rolling one-bay-at-a-time schedule, a holiday shutdown, or nights while the day shift is home. Containment, ventilation and food-safe or low-VOC coatings are specified up front, and the permits the City requires for lifts on public way are ours to pull.
- Phased schedules by floor, bay or elevation, with a written sequence you sign off on
- Night and weekend crews where a space cannot close
- Containment, floor protection and ventilation set up before the first gallon opens
- One foreman on site every day who answers to you

See the projectWhat industrial painting costs in Chicago, and what changes the number
Industrial painting is priced on prep and access more than on gallons. Rust, mill scale, old lead-era coatings and oil-fogged steel each change the spec, and so does how much of the plant we can take offline at once.
- Surface condition: blast to bare metal, power-tool clean, or wash and scuff
- Access: lifts between machines, mezzanines, ceilings over live lines
- Shutdown windows: weekend, holiday or rolling one-bay-at-a-time schedules
- Coating spec: zinc-rich or epoxy primers, urethane or epoxy topcoats, food-safe or chemical-resistant where required

Questions Chicago building owners ask us
Can you paint over a running production line?
Often, yes, with containment tented over the equipment and the work sequenced bay by bay. Where a line has to stop, we plan the shutdown window with you and staff it to finish inside it.
Do you blast steel before priming?
When the spec calls for it. Abrasive, crushed-glass and dustless blasting are in-house, so bare-metal prep on tanks, columns and machinery is the same crew, not a second vendor.
Do you work in food plants?
Yes. Food-safe and USDA-acceptable coating systems, wash-down rated finishes, and scheduling around sanitation cycles are standard on our food and beverage jobs.
How do you handle old coatings that might contain lead?
We test first. Where lead is present the prep is done under containment with the right controls and disposal, and that is priced as its own line so there are no surprises.
Are your crews employees?
Yes. Every painter and blaster on a Chicago industrial job is an Allied employee with a foreman on site every shift.
